Marshfield wins four events, rolls to team title at home girls track indoor invite

Goeppinger, Jensen win individual titles for Tigers

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield won four events to take the team championship at the 2016 Marshfield Girls Track Indoor Invitational on Thursday night at The Boson Company Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield finished with 123 team points. Marathon was a distant second with 89.75, and Rib Lake came in third with 88.25.

Mariah Goeppinger won the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 6 ¾ inches, and Ana Jensen won the triple for jump with a leap of 29-11 for Marshfield’s two individual titles.

The Tigers also won a pair of relays. Meg Bryan, Dani Bender, Alexa Aumann, and Courtney Brown took first in the 8-lap relay with a time of 3:08.08, and Jensen teamed with Bender, Aumann, and Brown to win the 1-mile relay in 4:42.00.

Marshfield also got a second-place finish from Shantel Nienast in the triple jump as she finished second to Jensen by five inches with a jump of 29-6.

Placing third for Marshfield were the 640 relay team (1:28.62), Sadie Degrand in the 60-yard dash (8.02), Brooke McGrath in the 220 (30.90), Katie Osinski in the shot put (32-0), Sara Dasler in the 440 (1:13.35), Sophia Schrodi in the 1 mile (6:38.36), and Brown and Nienast were among five tied for third in the high jump (4-4).
