MACF has scholarships available, but deadlines are approaching

I have noticed my crocuses are starting to spring, as are the wood violets. I love spring. Neighbors will be outside once again, cleaning their yards and walking their dogs. Our neighborhoods will feel alive again.
With spring also comes our scholarship season, one of the best things that we do here at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation. The number and size of our scholarships have grown since the foundation began. We awarded over $70,000 in tuition assistance for the 2015-2016 school year.
To put this in perspective, it was 19 years ago in 1997 that the foundation presented its first scholarship. The following year we presented four. In 1999 there were 14. Now there are 52. During these years we have awarded over 500 scholarships, valued at almost $470,000 with the value of the average scholarship awarded at $911.
For the past 12 years, the Marshfield Buyer’s Guide/Hub City Times has published the Scholarship Bulletin that lists over 400 scholarship opportunities available throughout our geographical area. We are very proud of the individuals, businesses, organizations, and families who have stepped forward to provide this wonderful demonstration of faith in our young people and belief in the importance of education.
The bulletin is available at our office at 907 N. Central Ave., at local schools, and on our website, marshfieldareacommunityfoundation.org.
The deadlines for many of the scholarships are quickly approaching. Where else can students make $911 for an hour or two of their time? Please call or email us with questions.
