WAUSAU — The Marshfield boys basketball team was held to 34 percent shooting and let a five-point halftime lead slip away as it lost to Wausau West 46-43 in its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference final on Thursday night at West High School.
Marshfield finishes the regular season with a 14-8 record and a 6-6 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, which puts the Tigers in third place. They would have tied West (11-11, 8-4 WVC) for second with a victory.
The loss ends the Tigers’ six-game winning streak.
Marshfield led 17-12 after a sluggish first half but could not hold on as West outscored them 34-26 in the second period.
Alec Hinson was the only Tiger to reach double figures, finishing with 11 points. Tyson Slade added nine.
Jakob Tordsen led Wausau West with 19 points and six rebounds.
Marshfield will host Oshkosh West in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal on March 4.
