MARSHFIELD — The Yellow River Basin Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will be holding its annual fundraising banquet on March 5, starting at 4 p.m. at RiverEdge Golf Course. There will be raffles, games, and both silent and vocal auctions for items including an elk hunting trip, fishing trip, artwork, jewelry, and home furnishings. Over 30 guns will be given away as well as other hunting and outdoor equipment.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that raises money to support elk, other wildlife, their habitat, and hunters’ heritage. All banquets are planned and run by volunteers. A substantial portion of the money raised stays in Wisconsin and has been used in part to support the reintroduction of elk to Wisconsin.

In fact, Wisconsin DNR personnel have recently returned from Kentucky, where they helped trap the next group of elk that will be brought to Wisconsin for later release in the Black River Forest area. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has been one of the partner organizations supporting this work.

For more information, to request an invitation, or to register for the banquet, call Donna Jones at 715-687-2264 or register online at events.rmef.org/!NYD.
