Spencer girls basketball tips Thorp in Cloverbelt crossover

Kind leads Rockets with 17 points

THORP — Sydney Kind scored 17 points, and the Spencer girls basketball team won the fifth-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference East-West Crossovers with a 39-35 victory over Thorp on Thursday at Thorp High School.

The Rockets led 22-16 at halftime and held on despite scoring just 17 points in the second half.

Spencer shot 42 percent (15 of 36) from the field and had five 3-pointers, three from Kind.

The Rockets end the regular season with a 13-9 record, and Thorp drops to 12-9.

Spencer will play at Wabeno/Laona in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.
