Marshfield boys, girls both win openers at state curling tournament

WAUSAU — The Marshfield curling teams competed at the Wisconsin State Curling Tournament on Thursday with opening-round matches.

The Marshfield boys defeated Kimberly 8-5. Team members for the Tigers were Lukas Post (lead), John Dickinson (second), Lucas Roselle (third), and Noah Behling (skip).

The Marshfield girls edged Portage 2 9-6. Team members for the Marshfield girls were Shawna O’Brien (lead), Seanna Ristola (second), Taylor Ferch (third), and Cassie Strebe (skip).

The Marshfield JV boys dropped a 9-3 decision to Lodi. Marshfield team members were Logan Schmoll (first), Bentley Engevold (second), Paul Fischer (third), and Hunter Weik (skip).

Play continues at the state tournament on Friday.
