GREENWOOD — The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team clinched its first outright Cloverbelt Conference East Division championship since the 2009-10 season with a 68-33 rout of Greenwood on Tuesday night at Greenwood High School.
Tyler Fuerlinger scored 18 points, Evan Nikolai added 13, and Matthias Gouin had 11 for the Dons, who are now 17-2 overall and remain perfect at 14-0 in the Cloverbelt East.
With two games remaining in the conference schedule — Friday versus Owen-Withee and Monday versus Spencer — Columbus holds a three-game lead in the loss column in the standings.
The title is the Dons’ fourth Cloverbelt East championship since 2010, which includes 2010-11 when they shared first place with Colby and 2013-14 when they tied Owen-Withee.
Zach Zimbauer topped Greenwood (2-17, 2-12 Cloverbelt East) with 12 points.
Both Friday’s and Monday’s games at Columbus Catholic High School will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.
