PITTSVILLE — The Auburndale girls basketball team clinched a share of the Marawood Conference South Division championship with a 58-16 rout of Pittsville in its conference finale on Friday night at Pittsville High School.

The Apaches rolled out to a 42-8 halftime lead on their way to the big win.

Auburndale finishes the Marawood South season with a 10-2 record, tied with Marathon for first place. Wisconsin Rapids Assumption can also grab a share of the title with a win at home over Stratford on Tuesday.

The conference title is the first for Auburndale in the Marawood and the program’s first since earning a tie for the Cloverbelt Conference title in 1990-91.

Taylor Gotz scored 21 points and hauled down eight rebounds in the victory. Rachael Bolder added 10 rebounds, and Paiton Richardson scored 17 points for the Apaches.

Auburndale (18-2 overall) will take its 12-game winning streak into a nonconference game at Athens on Tuesday.
