MERRILL — Tyson Slade had a season-high 16 points, and Alec Hinson drained four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points to lead the Marshfield boys basketball team to a 64-50 win over Merrill on Friday night at Merrill High School.

The Tigers shot 45 percent from the field (19 of 42) as leading scorer Adam Fravert was held to just eight points on 2 of 6 shooting. The rest of the team picked up the slack, making 17 of 36 shots, and Marshfield overall was 9 of 20 from 3-point range.

Slade and Grant Michaelis each had a pair of 3-pointers for Marshfield, which is now 9-7 overall and 3-5 in the WVC. Merrill drops to 4-13 and 1-8 in the conference.

The Tigers were also an impressive 17 of 21 at the free throw line, with Trevor Schwecke going a perfect 6-for-6 and Fravert 4-for-4.

Marshfield is at Eau Claire Memorial for a nonconference game on Tuesday before hosting D.C. Everest in a Valley game Feb. 12.
