Marshfield boys hockey beats Merrill for first WVC win

Roy-Peterson has 28 saves for Tigers

MERRILL — Marshfield scored three unanswered goals during the final two periods to edge Merrill 3-1 and grab its first Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey victory of the season on Thursday at the Smith Center.

Merrill led 1-0 after the first period before Collin Barth, Scotty Berg, and Ryan Krueger scored for the Tigers as they pulled away for the victory.

Haydon Roy-Peterson did the rest, saving 28 shots in goal for Marshfield (5-14-1, 1-9 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Kruger and Isaac Wellens had assists for the Tigers.

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest on Tuesday.
