Owen-Withee snaps Spencer boys basketball team’s four-game win streak

Pilz scores 22 points for Rockets

SPENCER — Spencer made seven 3-pointers but was held to 32 percent shooting overall and dropped a 63-54 decision to Owen-Withee in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Thursday at Spencer High School.

The Rockets had their four-game winning streak snapped, and they fall to 10-5 overall and 6-4 in the Cloverbelt East. Owen-Withee is now 8-6 and 7-3 in the conference.

Josiah Goerlitz scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds for Owen-Withee.

Bobby Pilz had 22 points, including three 3-pointers, and Calvin Lenz and Jonny Tomke each scored 10 for Spencer.

Spencer was 7 of 20 from behind the arc but only 16 of 49 overall from the field.

The Blackhawks put the game away at the free throw line, making 16 of 19 overall.

Spencer’s next game is Tuesday at Loyal.
