Chili, Wis., to be featured on ‘Today’

LOYAL — A recent email from the local Wisconsin Department of Tourism representative started wheels in motion to have Chili as a featured town on NBC’s “Today” show.
For a special story, “Today” Producer Samantha Wender was researching towns that were named after food. Her email to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism led to the information request being passed to the Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau (CCEDC&TB) office. Chili was on the list.
The CCEDC&TB immediately sent an email to Wender, telling her the bureau would work with her in any way needed to help obtain all the data requested and setup needed to have Chili involved with the story. In minutes a team was created: Sheila Nyberg, director of Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau, along with County Historian Natalie Erpenbach and Chilian Dawn Krueger. They immediately began email connections and conference calls to get things organized. Many pieces of historic data and town features were sent to New York.
At 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 25, the group received word that Chili is indeed going to be in the NBC story. The team and many Chili folks are working diligently to organize everything the required for the shoot to take place the morning of Thursday, Jan. 28.
The date for airing of this program has not yet been set, but Chili is abuzz with ideas on hosting a broadcasting party to celebrate this moment for the town and Clark County.
