Spencer boys basketball knocks off Greenwood

Pilz leads Rockets with 20 points

GREENWOOD — Spencer held Greenwood to just 13 points in the second half and beat the Indians 55-35 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Friday night at Greenwood High School.

Bobby Pilz made four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 20 points for Spencer, which is now 8-4 overall and 6-3 in the Cloverbelt East. Greenwood drops to 2-12 and 2-8 in the conference.

Spencer led 32-22 at halftime before putting the clamps down on Greenwood in the second half to win going away.

The Rockets held Greenwood to just 30 percent shooting (14 of 46).

Ryan Busse added 11 points, and Calvin Lenz had 10 for Spencer. Both players also had eight rebounds.

Spencer hosts Pittsville in a nonconference game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
