Spencer boys basketball wins at Auburndale

Bobby Pilz scores 28 points to lead Rockets

AUBURNDALE — Bobby Pilz scored 17 of his game-high 28 points in the second half as the Spencer boys basketball team surged past Auburndale 67-55 in a nonconference game Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

The Rockets led 29-26 at halftime before outscoring Auburndale by 11 in the second half to pull away.

Pilz hit 11 of 19 shots from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers, and was 4 of 4 at the free throw line for the Rockets. Calvin Lenz added 14 points on the strength of four 3-pointers, Jack Bezlyk had 11 points and eight rebounds, and Ryan Busse had 10 points and eight rebounds for Spencer.

The Rockets (7-4) were 9 of 20 from 3-point range in the victory.

Caleb Weinfurter had 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and Luke Olsen and Nicholas Steele each scored 10 for Auburndale (3-8).
