Marshfield boys hockey falls to Wausau East

Tigers now 0-6 in WVC

MARSHFIELD — After an early Marshfield goal, Wausau East scored five-straight times and went on to defeat the Tigers 5-3 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey matchup Tuesday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.

Isaac Wellens scored 1:56 into the game for the Tigers before East erupted with two goals in the first period and three more in the second to take a commanding 5-1 lead.

Landon Dehnel scored twice, and Gabe McGinnity had assists for the Lumberjacks, who improve to 2-10 overall and 2-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

The Tigers remain winless (0-6) in the conference and falls to 3-10-1 overall.

Ryan Krueger and Wellens had goals in the closing minutes for Marshfield to tighten the margin.

Marshfield’s next game is Thursday at first-place Wausau West.
