Free throw shooting lifts Auburndale boys basketball past Amherst

Apaches end six-game losing skid

AUBURNDALE — The Auburndale boys basketball team stopped a six-game losing streak with a 65-53 win over Amherst in a nonconference game Saturday night at Auburndale High School.

Dylan Peplinski and Caleb Weinfurter each had 15 points for Auburndale (2-6).

Auburndale was 35 of 46 at the free throw line, where Christian Firnstahl went a perfect 10-for-10. Amherst committed 35 fouls, 22 in the second half, and had three players fouls out.

Tyler Biradasz led Amherst (8-5) with 20 points.

Auburndale hosts Northland Lutheran on Tuesday.
