Wednesday, Dec. 30

Sign struck on McMillan Street

While turning east onto McMillan Street from Central Avenue at 5:20 a.m., A Marshfield man’s vehicle slid and struck a signpost in the median. The man then went to the Marshfield Police Department to report the incident.

The signpost was broken at the base, but there was no damage to the sign. There was minor damage to the vehicle’s front bumper on the driver’s side. The street division was notified of damage to the signpost.

Marshfield man arrested following disturbance

Police arrested a 36-year-old Marshfield man after he created a disturbance on the 100 block of N. Spruce Ave. at 11:58 a.m. He was brought to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and was later transported to Wood County Jail.

The man was also out on current bond through Wood County. Charges for domestic abuse disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping will be sought through the Wood County district attorney’s office.

Thursday, Dec. 31

Police perform two warrant pickups

At 4:04 p.m. police arrested a 28-year-old Marshfield man for two valid Wood County warrants. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was booked. He was able to post the full bond amount of $460 and was released.

At 5:15 p.m. police took a 26-year-old Spencer man into custody on the 600 block of E. 21st St. for a valid Department of Corrections warrant. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and was then turned over to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail.

Friday, Jan. 1

Marshfield man arrested for battery

Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of N. Weber Ave. at 4:14 a.m. for a physical altercation taking place between a 28-year-old Marshfield man and a woman. While officers were en route, the man fled from the residence but later returned, and the disturbance continued.

When officers arrived they heard screaming from inside the residence, but the door was locked, and entry was forced.

Police took the man into custody and transported him to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures. He was then transported to Wood County Jail.

The woman received minor injuries and was treated by ambulance crew. Charges for domestic abuse battery are being requested through the Wood County DA.

Woman damages man’s residence, injures man

A Marshfield man called dispatch at 8:28 a.m. to report that his estranged 34-year-old wife had arrived at his residence unannounced and was damaging the residence and causing a disturbance. Officers arrived, took the woman into custody, and transported her to the Marshfield Police Department for booking. Upon posting the required bond, she was released.

Photos were taken of the damaged property and the injuries to the man. Charges were referred to the Wood County DA’s office for battery, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage to property, all domestic abuse offenses. The 72-hour no-contact period was waived.

Saturday, Jan. 2

Two women struck during physical altercation

A Marshfield woman and a Port Edwards woman had been involved in a physical altercation at 1:15 p.m. at a bar on the 100 block of S. Central Ave. During the altercation, both women were struck in the face and had their eyeglasses broken. Neither of the women could identify who struck them.

Police interviewed multiple subjects but could not find out who punched either woman. After speaking with the bar owner and the bartender, it was determined that the altercation started as a verbal disagreement between six females, all of whom were yelling at each other.

Police spoke with all the female subjects at the bar but were still unable to determine who struck whom. Neither the Marshfield woman nor the Port Edwards woman wanted any law enforcement action at this time.

Sunday, Jan. 3

Marshfield man arrested on Jefferson County warrant

Police arrested a 55-year-old Marshfield man on the 2200 block of S. Maple Ave. for a valid Jefferson County warrant. The man was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was booked, and was then transported to Wood County Jail.

Monday, Jan. 4

Multiple charges requested for 33-year-old man

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 13 and 34th Street at 11:55 a.m. A 33-year-old Marshfield man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was known to be wanted on misdemeanor and felony warrants. During the arrest, police located illegal prescription medications on the man’s person.

The man was booked, medically cleared, and transported to Wood County Jail. Charges of felony bail jumping, two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, possession of a Schedule IV narcotic, and possession of drug paraphernalia will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
