Man wanted for Chicago murder detained in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD — A man who was wanted for murder in Chicago was detained by police in Marshfield on Thursday night. Police responded to a panic alarm at 6:51 p.m. on the 600 block of W. Laurel Court in Marshfield, and when they arrived a man was seen fleeing the area, according a Marshfield police report.
When police located and detained the man, he gave them a false name, the report said. During transport of the man, he told police his real name and that he was wanted for murder in Chicago. Wood County dispatch confirmed this to be true, the report said.
The man was booked at the Marshfield Police Department, and Chicago police were informed of the situation. The man was then transported to Wood County Jail after being medically cleared.
“During the investigation the man stated he was suicidal but refused to provide any details,” the report said. The man’s name was not provided in the report.
