Dons outscore Indians by 40 in first half to roll to home win

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

MARSHFIELD — To say the Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team dominated the first half of its Cloverbelt Conference East Division game against Greenwood would be a severe understatement.

The Dons outscored Greenwood 49-7 in the first half and rolled to a 76-26 victory on Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Hunter Schultz scored 23 points, and Evan Nikolai and Billy Young each added 10 for the Dons, who are now 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

Ten different Columbus players scored in the win.

The Dons, ranked third in this week’s Wissports.net Division 5 state coaches poll, plays at Owen-Withee on Friday. Owen-Withee was 4-0 in the conference heading into Tuesday’s game against Loyal, for which no score has been reported. Friday’s game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.
