Rockets open playoffs Tuesday at home

ALTOONA — Altoona swept Spencer in the first-place match of the Cloverbelt Conference Crossovers on Thursday night at Altoona High School.

The Railroaders won 25-22, 25-16, 25-20 to complete a sweep for the Cloverbelt West in the eight matches against the Cloverbelt East teams.

Macie Weber had nine kills, Sadie Mercier had 11 assists, and Jenna Rogers had eight digs to lead Spencer.

“We played tough all three games. Altoona just had too much talent for us to keep up with,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “Even with the loss, it should be great preparation for the playoffs.”

Spencer hosts Necedah in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
