MARSHFIELD — No one was hurt Thursday night as the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department responded to a garage fire on the 500 block of East 10th Street in Marshfield. The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department responded to the call at 9:51 p.m. and found the garage in flames.
“Crews conducted an offensive fire attack and were able to contain the blaze to the attached garage,” said a release from the department.
Three residents were at the attached home when the fire started and evacuated the building. The report said the garage structure sustained significant damage as well as damage to a vehicle and contents inside the garage. The attached home sustained some light smoke damage. Total damages are estimated at about $60,000, and the home is insured, the release said.
“The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental due to the improper storage of smoking materials being too close to combustibles,” the release said.
