Thrown rock breaks window on Locust Avenue
A 21-year-old Marshfield woman reported that a window in her apartment on the 1500 block of S. Locust Ave. had been damaged. Officers arrived and found a rock inside the bedroom below the broken window. Two panes of glass were broken approximately six inches apart.
The woman stated she heard a noise at midnight that possibly could have been the window breaking in the adjacent bedroom.
Officers observed that the bushes below the window had possibly been stepped on, but due to the angle and force, it is believed the rock was thrown from a greater distance. The rock was collected and submitted into evidence, and photos were taken. There are no suspects at this time.
Police perform death investigation
A 90-year-old Marshfield woman was found deceased in her home at 7:53 a.m. Paramedics and officers were dispatched to the residence as well as a Wood County coroner.
The death appeared to be due to natural causes. The woman was transported to the Hansen-Schilling funeral home.
Repeat litterbug cited
A 48-year-old Marshfield man was observed on video surveillance throwing a Busch Light beer can out the window of the vehicle he was operating on the 100 block of S. Cherry Ave. The man was stopped at 11:50 a.m., and he admitted to throwing beer cans out his window on numerous occasions over the last several months at the corner of First Street and Cherry Avenue.
A resident on the 100 block of S. Cherry Ave. indicated that beer cans have been thrown by a large bush in his yard three or four times a week since the beginning of the year. A surveillance camera was set up and captured the 48-year-old throwing beer cans out his window on three separate occasions: 10:48 a.m. on Sept. 14, 10:06 a.m. on Sept. 16, and 3:11 p.m. on Sept. 22.
No restitution was requested. The 48-year-old was cited for littering.
Man reports identity theft
At 6:11 p.m. a 37-year-old Marshfield man reported fraudulent transactions on his bank debit card. There are no suspects. The case will be forwarded to the detective bureau for further investigation.
Man taken into custody for Wood County warrant
Following a traffic stop, police took a man into custody for a valid Wood County warrant. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures. After he was unable to post bond, the man was transported to Wood County Jail.
Thursday, Sept. 24
Pittsville man booked on possession of marijuana, bail jumping
While on a traffic stop near the intersection of Fifth Street and Linden Avenue at 9:38 p.m., an officer smelled the odor marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the search of one of the passengers, a 19-year-old Pittsville man, the officer located a small amount of marijuana in his pocket.
The man was out on bond for prior drug offenses and was therefore booked on possession of marijuana and misdemeanor bail jumping. The man was then released. Charges will be forwarded to the Wood County district attorney’s office.
Two men picked up on warrants
Police arrested a 35-year-old Marshfield man on the 100 block of W. Cleveland St. for two valid body only Marshfield Police Department warrants. The man was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then transported to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail.
Officers were dispatched to the corner of Chestnut Avenue and Franklin Street for a disturbed male. Officers made contact with the man on the 500 block of N. Chestnut Ave. and took him into custody for a valid Wood County warrant. The man was unable to post bond. He was then booked and transferred to Wood County Jail.
Friday, Sept. 25
Equipment stolen from garage on Frey Avenue
A 52-year-old Marshfield woman came into the Marshfield Police Department to report that someone had stolen a drill press, grinder, and vise from a garage on the 3400 block of N. Frey Ave. some time between 4 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 25. The items were in the garage, which was chained but not locked.
There are no suspects at this time. The woman said that she had spoken with her neighbors and that they did not see anything.
Marshfield man’s information used to submit loan
At 10:41 a.m. a 69-year-old Marshfield man reported that he had received a telephone call from a lending company regarding a loan that was submitted in his name. Someone had used the man’s personal information to submit the loan, and he did not give anyone permission to use his name. The investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, Sept. 26
Columbus man arrested for PAC violation
Near the intersection of Arnold Street and Maple Avenue at 12:15 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after it was found to have an expired registration. The 38-year-old Columbus, Wis., man operating the vehicle was arrested for a prohibited alcohol content violation after his preliminary breath test sample was 0.073. The man had six prior operating while under the influence convictions and had a 0.02 blood alcohol content restriction on his driver’s license.
A blood draw was completed at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. The man was then booked at the Marshfield Police Department and transported to Wood County Jail.
Man damages bar, vehicle in parking lot, strikes bar patron
A bartender at a bar on the 300 block of N. Central Ave. reported that while attempting to close the bar at 2:28 a.m., an unknown male bar patron became verbally aggressive and refused to leave. Once the man was helped out of the bar, he became even more agitated and began damaging bar property. The man also damaged the windshield of a vehicle parked next to the bar.
It was later found out that the man struck another bar patron in the face while he was damaging the property.
The man left the scene before officers arrived. Investigation will continue.
Marshfield woman arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia
Police arrested a 23-year-old Marshfield woman for possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on the 1700 block of S. Maple Ave. at 7:19 p.m. K9 Arco performed an exterior vehicle sniff and alerted to the presence of a controlled substance.
The woman was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where she was photographed, fingerprinted, and then released.
Auburndale man with Marathon County warrant arrested
Police arrested a 44-year-old Auburndale man for a valid Marathon County warrant during a traffic stop near the intersection of Upham Street and Central Avenue. The man was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed. He was then transported to Stratford and turned over to a Marathon County deputy as he was not able to post the required $1,095.71 bond.
Man cited for driving without a valid license
Following a traffic stop, police took a 27-year-old Marshfield man into custody for operating without a valid license, second offense. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, issued a citation, and released.
Pittsville man taken into custody for driving with revoked license
Police took a 31-year-old Pittsville man into custody for operating while revoked-alcohol related. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed, and then released.
Sunday, Sept. 27
Vulgar graffiti reported on Meadow Lane
Some time after midnight, an unknown person toilet papered trees and used red spray paint to mark several items of property on the 500 block of Meadow Lane. The marks included vulgarities.
During investigation it was discovered that two other residences nearby had similar writings that appeared to be done by the same individual. Nothing was actually damaged, and the paint was washable. A neighborhood canvas was conducted, and there are no suspects at this time.
Woman urinates on bar entryway, arrested for warrant
At 11:53 p.m. a bartender called for officer assistance after a 49-year-old Auburndale woman urinated on the back entryway of a bar on the 500 block of N. Central Ave. On the scene it was found that the woman had a Clark County warrant for her arrest.
The woman was arrested and transported to the emergency room for medical clearance due to her intoxication and admitting to taking an unknown amount of prescription medication. After being cleared from the ER, the woman was transported to Clark County Jail.
Monday, Sept. 28
Man taken into custody on Clark County warrant
At 5:49 p.m. police took a 23-year-old Marshfield man into custody for a valid Clark County warrant at the intersection of Fifth Street and Anton Avenue. The man was booked at the Marshfield Police Department was released after posting the required bond.
Drug paraphernalia found in Peach Avenue garage
Police responded at 6:48 p.m. to a report of found drug paraphernalia on the 700 block of N. Peach Ave. A woman stated she was cleaning out a garage that she had leased to another man when she found the paraphernalia. She said she knew the man had been involved with drugs in the past and believed it to be his.
Police contacted the man, and denied having any drug paraphernalia there. The item was logged into evidence.
