Kiwanis Enormous Equipment Playground rumbles to the fairgrounds this October

MARSHFIELD — The eighth annual Kiwanis Enormous Equipment Playground (KEEP) will take place at the Central Wisconsin State Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Oct. 3. Admission for ages 1-12 is $3, and over 12 is $5. The event is a chance for children to see and in some cases get hands-on experience with construction equipment brought in by area companies.
Indoors activities include many free, hands-on stations for children like the Central Wisconsin Home Builders Toy Wood Workshop, the chance to create a concrete cake or stepping stone, rock painting, and sifting for “gold.” Children get to take home their creations from each station. There will also be food concessions, souvenirs, a bounce house, bean bag toss, and more.
Attendees can get a close look at construction equipment and even sit in the driver’s seat of some vehicles. Children will also have the chance to play in an enormous sand pile and board the Round Barn Express Train.
The Kiwanis Club of Marshfield organizes the event, but without the help of several area businesses who sponsor the day or bring the equipment, it would not be possible. In the past the following vehicles have been on display: a school bus, a garbage truck, cherry pickers, loaders, excavators, concrete trucks, fire trucks, police cars, semi-trucks, and dump trucks, and on occasion the Spirit Helicopter makes an appearance.
KEEP is the Kiwanis Club of Marshfield’s major fundraiser. In addition to giving children a fun-filled family day, proceeds from the event are used to benefit the community by sponsoring and supporting children’s charities.
