Stratford’s Miner wins girls race, Tigers take team title at Spencer Cross Country Invite

McDonell wins boys title

SPENCER — Stratford’s Johnelle Miner won the girls race, and teammate Macie Schillinger was second as the Tigers won the team title at the Spencer Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Frey Field.

Miner won in 20:39.9, 20 seconds ahead of Schillinger. Teammate Kaylee Hollatz was fourth in 21:24.5 to help the Tigers to the team title with 41 points. Auburndale was second with 54. Spencer finished fifth, and Marshfield Columbus Catholic had just four runners.

Isabella Jewell was third in 21:21.1 to lead Auburndale. Kali Karl was sixth (21:37.7), and Katie Leick took ninth (22:22.9) to give the Apaches three top-10 finishers.

Spencer’s Nadia King took fifth in 21:31.8, and Hannah Grubofski led Columbus Catholic by taking 10th in 20:27.2.

Chippewa Falls McDonell won the boys team title, Columbus Catholic came in second, Stratford third, and Auburndale fifth. Spencer had only two runners.

Isaac Bohaty of McDonell won the boys race in 18:05.5, two seconds ahead of teammate Jarrett Jordan.

Leonard Steinert led Columbus by taking third in 18:23.4. Benny Frericks was fifth (18:33.0), Jeremiah Giles took seventh (18:41.3), and Peyton Nystrom was 10th (18:58.7) for the Dons.

Isaac Guyer led Stratford by taking 13th in 19:09.5; Bobby Pilz was Spencer’s top runner, taking 18th in 19:56.7; and Matt Leick topped the Auburndale boys by finishing 25th in 20:14.9.
