Marshfield volleyball beats SPASH, Wausau East at WVC tournament

STEVENS POINT — The Marshfield volleyball team won a pair of matches by 3-1 scores at the first Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament of the season on Saturday at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

The Tigers (3-2 WVC) beat SPASH 25-11, 11-25, 25-20, 25-7 and Wausau East 25-16, 20-25, 25-11, 25-9.

Ema Fehrenbach and Stephanie Rhodes each had 22 kills, Anna Ripp had 72 assists, Sara Dasler had 50 digs, and Hannah Meverden had nine blocks to lead Marshfield.

Merrill won three matches at the meet to improve to 6-0 in the conference. Marshfield is now one game behind second-place D.C. Everest in the conference standings.

Marshfield returns to action Thursday at Wisconsin Rapids.
