Sports Reporter

SPENCER — The Spencer volleyball team avenged an early-season loss to Loyal/Granton with a thrilling 3-2 win over the Greyhounds on Thursday in a matchup of Cloverbelt Conference East Division unbeatens.

The Rockets won 18-25, 25-12, 25-17, 28-30, 15-10, to improve to 2-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Loyal/Granton is now 2-1. Loyal/Granton beat Spencer at the Marathon Early Bird Invitational on Aug. 29.

Macie Weber had 20 kills, four aces, and six blocks; Liz Endreas added 14 kills; Jenna Rogers had a team-high 40 digs; and McKenzie Bainer had 27 assists for the Rockets.

“We battled through some injuries, adversity, and a solid opponent all night,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “The girls really dug deep for that victory.”

Spencer plays at Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Tuesday.
