Stratford football edges Tomahawk

TOMAHAWK – The Stratford football team grabbed a hard-fought 14-7 win over Tomahawk on the road Friday night at Tomahawk High School.
The Tigers are now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the Marawood Conference after handing Tomahawk (3-1, 2-1 Marawood) its first loss of the season.
Stratford hosts undefeated Edgar on Sept. 18. Edgar won 50-0 over Phillips on Friday and has not allowed a point in its four wins this season.
Stratford again used its strong running game, piling up 253 yards on the ground.
Cole Hoffmann had 98 yards on just six carries, including a 58-yard touchdown run that gave the Tigers and early lead.
Taylor Krall added 88 yards and Kam Bornbach chipped in 81 on the ground for Stratford.
Jesse Dickmann hauled in a 36-yard touchdown pass from Sam Wenzel in the third quarter to provide the Tigers with the winning score.
