Donations needed to fight childhood hunger in Marshfield
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — Now that area students are back in school, the Nutrition On Weekends (NOW) program will be starting again. The NOW program provides supplemental weekend food packs to children facing food insecurities in their homes. This will be the third year the program has helped children in the Marshfield area.
Generous support from the community has allowed the program to expand from serving 29 children in 2013 to 300 in less than two years. United Way is seeking donations to support the program. Current needs include jelly, granola bars, Goldfish crackers, animal crackers, pretzels, applesauce cups, Cheerios, Raisin Bran, Life cereal, fruit snacks, dried fruit, Jell-O cups, fruit cups, raisins/Craisins, and Ziploc sandwich bags.
Donations can be dropped off at the United Way office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. There are also donation boxes and shopping lists at the front of both Festival Foods and Pick ‘n Save. Monetary donations are also welcome.
