Marshfield girls fourth, boys fifth at annual Tigers Cross Country Invitational

Columbus Catholic, Auburndale, Spencer also compete at event

Nicole Gilman of Lakeland won the girls race with a time of 15:58.

MARSHFIELD — Medford’s Jarod Rudolph and Lakeland’s Nicole Gilman ran away from the competition to claim individual titles at the 47th Annual Marshfield Tigers Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Wildwood Park.

Rudolph finished the boys race in 16:45.9, more than 37 seconds faster than Joe Comeau of Wisconsin Rapids, who was second.

Gilman won the girls race in 15:58.6 to take the title by 13.1 seconds ahead of Chippewa Falls’ Katie Faris.

The Lakeland boys and the Chippewa Falls girls won the team titles.

The Marshfield girls took fourth, Auburndale was sixth, Columbus Catholic seventh, and Spencer 11th in the 13-team field.

Marshfield senior Morgan Irish was fourth in 16:50.4 for the Tigers’ top finish. Dani Bender was sixth in 17:09.5 for another top-10 finish for the Tigers.

Nadia King had Spencer’s top finish, taking 14th in 17:46.1.

Kali Karl was 15th (17:47.3) and Katie Leick took 16th (17:51.1) for Auburndale.

Columbus Catholic’s top finisher was Morgan Albrecht, who took 33rd in 18:37.2.

Medford’s Jarod Rudolph won the boys race with a time of 16:45, 47 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.

The Marshfield boys took fifth, Columbus Catholic was sixth, Auburndale was 12th, and Spencer had an incomplete team with just four runners.

Marshfield freshman Carter Chojnacki was the area’s top finisher as he finished 17th in 18:42.4. Teammate Jordan Dzikowich was 20th in 18:53.6.

Columbus Catholic’s Leonard Steinert was 21st in 19:00.3, Benny Frericks was 23rd in 19:07.7, and Peyton Nystrom took 26th in 19:11.3.

Auburndale’s top finish came from Carver Empey, who took 22nd in 19:04.9.

Bobby Pilz of Spencer was 66th in 21:27.1.

Marshfield’s next meet is Saturday at the Stevens Point Invitational at Standing Rock Park.
