Auburndale volleyball drops Marawood South match at Newman

Apaches swept, suffer first conference loss

WAUSAU — The Auburndale volleyball team dropped its first Marawood Conference South Division match of the season, losing 3-0 at Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday.

Newman won 25-10, 25-19, 25-13 to improve to 2-0 in the Marawood South. Auburndale is now 1-1 in conference play.

The Auburndale offense was neutralized, totaling just 17 kills. Taylor Gotz led the Apaches with five. Sydney Schmutzer had 11 assists, and four players topped the defense with five digs each.

Auburndale hosts its annual home tournament on Saturday.
