Marshfield volleyball drops Valley opener to Merrill

Tigers host tournament on Saturday

MARSHFIELD — A week after beating Merrill at its home tournament, the Marshfield volleyball team opened the Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule against the Bluejays and lost 3-1 on Thursday at Marshfield High School.

Merrill won 25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 26-24 in the WVC opener for both teams.

Stephanie Rhodes had 17 kills, Alexa Aumann added 12 kills and four blocks, Sara Dasler had 36 digs, and Anna Ripp had a team-high 33 assists for the Tigers.

Marshfield will host its second home tournament on Saturday. Superior, Altoona, Medford, Wauwatosa West, and Rhinelander will compete at the tournament.
