SUN PRAIRIE – The Marshfield volleyball team went 3-2 for the second day in a row and finished sixth at the Sun Prairie Cardinal Invitational on Saturday at Sun Prairie High School.

The Tigers defeated Beaver Dam 25-13, 25-11; Luxemburg-Casco 25-23, 25-22; and Waupun 25-22, 26-24; and lost to Watertown 21-25, 25-22, 15-10; and De Pere 25-19, 25-19, to finish sixth.

“I am pretty pleased with our performance this weekend,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “We obviously have some things to still work on, but three of our losses this weekend came to really strong programs who ended up in the top four of the tournament. This team is only going to get better and better.”

Stephanie Rhodes led Marshfield with 37 kills and added 38 digs, Anna Ripp had a team-high 77 assists, Sara Dasler had 55 digs, and Jenny Scheppler added 38 digs and 10 aces for the Tigers.

Alex Aumann added 30 kills and 13 blocks, and Hannah Meverden had 15 blocks as well for Marshfield.

The Tigers open Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday at home against Merrill.
