Parks & Recreation announces fall offerings, discount ticket program

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications and rosters from adult teams interested in playing in fall/winter volleyball and basketball leagues. Volleyball leagues will run Monday through Thursday evenings at the Oak Avenue Community Center. Men’s basketball will be held Thursday evenings at Marshfield Middle School. Fees are $200 for volleyball and $180 for basketball. Please inquire about fees for Co-Rec A-1’s, Women’s Power 4’s and Co-Rec Power 4’s.
Information has been mailed to the previous year’s mangers. New teams interested in submitting an application and roster must do so prior to Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 4:30 p.m. Returning teams are given first priority with new teams taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. League organizational meetings will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9 — volleyball at 6:15 p.m. and basketball at 7 p.m. — in the BeeBee Forum Room at the Marshfield Public Library.

The Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department will also offer the following programs:
—Youth tennis lessons for ages 4-12 begin the week of Sept. 14 on Mondays and Tuesdays. Classes will be held for six weeks at the indoor tennis court in City Hall Plaza. The cost is $29 for city residents and $43.50 for nonresidents.
—Youth gymnastics classes will begin Monday, Nov. 9, for ages 3 ½ and up. Classes will be held for five weeks at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse gymnastics area. The cost is $25 for city residents and $37.50 for nonresidents.
—Little Tyke Soccer for ages 3-5 will be held Sundays from Sept. 13-27 at Griese Park. Little Strikers (3-years-olds) will run 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., and the cost is $25. Midfield Mayhem (4- and 5-year-olds) will run 12-12:45 p.m., and the cost is $30.
—Adult Aquacise classes will be held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 6:30-7:30 a.m. with sessions starting Sept. 8 and Oct. 22. There will also be an evening session from 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. starting Sept. 23. The cost is $25 for city residents and $37.50 for nonresidents.
—Early Bird Lap Swim is currently being held at Marshfield High School pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 a.m. through Dec. 10. Lap swim will not be held on Nov. 26. Admission is $1.25 for city residents and $1.75 for nonresidents, but advance discount tickets may be purchased at the Parks & Recreation office.
—Pickleball is being held on Mondays from 1-3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. through Oct. 15 at the Oak Avenue Community Center. Drop-in fee is $2.50, or purchase advanced discount tickets.
—Open Gym & Swim at Marshfield High School will begin Monday, Sept. 21, and be held on Mondays and Wednesdays. The pool will be open from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. and the gym from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. There is no fee for youth up to age 18. The fee for adults is $2.50 for residents & $3.75 for non-residents. Advanced discount tickets can be purchased in our office. Please note children ages 9 & under need adult supervision to use the facilities.
WPRA discount tickets for end of summer fun
The Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Parks & Recreation Association, is selling discount tickets to area attractions and theme parks at discounted rates. Pick up tickets Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Parks & Recreation office, 630 S. Central Ave., Suite 201R.
