PORT EDWARDS — 38-year-old Scott G. Carlson of Nekoosa died Saturday night when a car driven by 29-year-old Jessica M. Hendricks, also of Nekoosa, collided with the back of his motorcycle. Both vehicles were headed west on Highway 173 in the town of Port Edwards, and Carlson’s motorcycle was slowing down as he approached the intersection at Kimball Avenue, according to a release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department.

Carlson was pronounced dead at the scene. Hendricks was transported to Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids with non life-threatening injuries. The release says that alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash, but the crash remains under investigation.

Nekoosa police, fire, and ambulance services responded to the crash in addition to Wood County Sheriff’s deputies and rescue. Spirit Air responded to the scene as well but did not ultimately transport anyone.
