Upcoming events at Wildwood Zoo: Insect Ambassadors, Zoo Crew
MARSHFIELD — The coming Wild Wednesday program will feature the Insect Ambassadors from UW-Madison. This program will be held at Wildwood Station on Wednesday, July 29. Attendees will learn about different kinds of insects, why they are good and bad, how they communicate with one another, and much more. Presentations will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
This program is being sponsored by Ray’s Electric Service, LLC; the Wildwood Zoological Society; and Marshfield Parks and Recreation. A concession stand will be open during the event. Admission is free, but donations are always welcome. For a complete list of 2015 Wild Wednesdays programs, visit ci.marshfield.wi.us/visitors/wildwood_zoo/events.php.
The next Zoo Crew meeting will be Saturday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. Zoo Crew members will be doing some enrichment with the foxes and learn about wolves. Enrichment is where some of the zoo animals get a special treat or a toy to play with to help encourage natural behaviors.
Zoo Crew is a program for children ages 3-12 to learn more about animals and their environment. It is only $5 per year per child. Children get a quarterly newsletter and meet seven times a year for an hour to learn about animals, with hands-on activities to reinforce what was talked about in presentations.
