Man killed in three-car crash in Marathon County

MARATHON COUNTY — A 94-year-old man is dead after a three-car crash yesterday near the intersection of Blackberry Road and Highway 97.

Marathon County Communications received a call at about 2:50 p.m. yesterday reporting the crash, according to a release on the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The 94-year-old man was driving on Blackberry Road and traveled into the intersection of Highway 97 and was struck by a northbound vehicle. That collision pushed the 94-year-old man’s vehicle into the southbound lane of traffic were it was struck by a milk truck. The 94-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the release.

The driver who was headed northbound was transported to a hospital but sustained non life-threatening injuries. According to the release, the milk truck driver was not reported to have any injuries.  All three drivers involved in the crash were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.

Authorities are not releasing names of individuals involved in the crash until after 4 p.m. today.
