Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Senior Legion blasts Antigo in doubleheader sweep

Blue Devils pound out 13 hits in each game

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Senior American Legion baseball team improved to 12-3 this summer with a doubleheader sweep of Antigo on Thursday night at Jack Hackman Field.

The Blue Devils pounded out 26 hits and scored 22 runs in the twin bill, winning by scores of 6-3 and 16-1.

Marshfield scored three times in the fifth to erase a 2-2 tie and pull ahead to win Game 1.

Jeremy Binder earned the win on the mound for the Blue Devils. Shane Coker had two this and two RBIs, and Nathan Dupee, Mitch Susa, Nolan Matson, and Neal Matson each had two singles as Marshfield had 13 hits.

Logan Johnson won the second game as the Blue Devils had 13 more hits and ended the game via the 10-run rule with an eight-run fourth inning.

Trevor Schwecke had three singles and three RBIs, Coker added three singles and two RBIs, Dupee had a pair of hits and three RBIs, and Bobby Pilz had two singles and two RBIs for Marshfield.

The Blue Devils return to action Monday when they host Eau Claire for a nonconference doubleheader at Hackman Field beginning at 5:30 p.m.
