Wednesday, June 10
Man taken into custody for THC, drug paraphernalia possession
Police took a 20-year-old Marshfield man into custody at 11:32 p.m. on the 1000 block of Sawyer Drive as marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located inside his residence. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures and was later released. Charges for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia will be forwarded to the Wood County district attorney’s office.
Thursday, June 11
Lock damaged on Second Street
Police responded at 8:08 a.m. to a report of criminal damage to property on the 100 block of E. Second St. An unknown person damaged a the lock to the building’s east entry door between 5 p.m. on June 10 and 6:30 a.m. on June 11. It appeared as though someone used pliers or a channel lock to remove the lock but was unsuccessful.
Attempts to contact the resident near the entry door were unsuccessful.The investigation is ongoing.
Marshfield man taken into custody on Jefferson County warrant
At 8:43 a.m. police took a 54-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 2200 block of S. Maple Ave. for a valid Jefferson County warrant. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was booked, and then was turned over to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail as he was unable to post bond.
Vehicle fire on Heidi Lane
Police responded at 4:25 p.m. to a report of a vehicle fire on the 1500 block of Heidi Lane. When officers arrived, the cab of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire.
The owner/operator of the vehicle stated that while driving the vehicle on East McMillan Street, smoke started coming from the dash area on the driver’s side. The owner drove to the Heidi Lane area to attempt to locate the origin of the smoke when the cab started on fire. The owner also stated the vehicle had been sitting for two months prior to this day and that there was no insurance on it.
Friday, June 12
Dog bites woman
At 5:12 p.m. a 35-year-old Marshfield woman reported that her dog bit her upstairs neighbor, a 60-year-old woman. The dog had been tied up but became aggressive when the neighbor walked past, slipped out of its collar, and bit her on the right calf.
The owner was able to provide proof of recent vaccinations, and the dog was quarantined at her residence. The neighbor went to the Saint Joseph’s Hospital emergency room to seek medical attention.
The case was turned over to ordinance officers.
Police advise ex-couple on civil dispute
At 7:19 p.m. an officer met with a 23-year-old Marshfield man regarding his ex-girlfriend, who had entered his apartment on North Chestnut Avenue. and took a shower head and a hanging shampoo rack. The man and ex-girlfriend had rented the apartment together and are both on the lease until the end of June.
Police contacted the ex-girlfriend and advised her to ask for a civil standby from law enforcement if she needs to get any of her property out of the apartment in the future to prevent conflict. Both parties were told disputes about who owns what property would have to be resolved in civil court.
Saturday, June 13
Marshfield man flees warrant pickup
An officer initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Arnold Street and Maple Avenue at 1:36 a.m. The vehicle fled from police for approximately 1.5 miles. The vehicle eventually stopped, and a 48-year-old Marshfield man was taken into custody on warrants and several new charges.
The man was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then transported to Wood County Jail. A request for charges will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
Windshield smashed on Central Avenue
Officers were dispatched at 2:22 a.m. to a bar on the 500 block of N. Central Ave. for reports of a male subject trying to smash out car windows in the parking lot. Officers met a 23-year-old man who stated that a 23-year-old Spencer man had been attempting to start fights inside the bar and then went outside to try to break his car window with a rock. The 23-year-old’s windshield had been smashed.
An officer was able to contact the Spencer man by phone the next day, and he admitted that he had been very intoxicated and that he recalled starting a fight inside the bar. He stated that it was possible that he smashed the windshield but he did not recall doing it due to his intoxicated state.
The officer verified the Spencer man’s information and issued him a citation for criminal damage to property. The listed owner of the 23-year-old’s vehicle is seeking restitution for the damage, and a receipt for the replaced windshield will be included with the citation when available.
Stratford man taken into custody for Marathon County warrant
Following a traffic stop near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Palmetto Avenue, police took a 20-year-old Stratford man into custody at 3 a.m. for a valid Marathon County warrant. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and released after posting the required $177.78 bond. The man was also cited for operating after suspension.
No parking sign stolen
A 62-year-old Spencer man reported that an unknown person stole a no parking sign and pole from his parking lot on the 100 block of N. Central Ave. between 8 p.m. on June 12 and 9 a.m. on June 13. There are no suspects at this time.
Man arrested for knife possession
Police were dispatched to the 600 block of N. Veterans Parkway for a two-vehicle traffic accident. On an initial look inside one of the vehicles, an officer observed a closed silver knife in the front passenger door. The knife was double-ended and spring-assisted. The owner, a 20-year-old Marshfield man, was arrested, booked, and released.
Sunday, June 14
Woman’s bicycle stolen while at work
A 23-year-old Marshfield woman reported that her bicycle was stolen some time between 8 p.m. on June 13 and 7:05 a.m. on June 14. The woman had ridden her bicycle to her work on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave., and when she came out at the end of her shift, the bicycle was missing. There are no suspects at this time.
Marshfield woman arrested for eight warrants
Police arrested a 37-year-old Marshfield woman on eight valid warrants at 12:12 p.m. on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. The woman was arrested, booked, transported to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail, and turned over to staff.
Criminal damage to rental property on Peach Avenue
A 54-year-old Marshfield man contacted police at 5:58 p.m. after finding extensive damage to a rental property he owns on the 400 block of S. Peach Ave. The man showed officers multiple holes in the walls throughout the house as well as broken kitchen appliances and bathroom cabinets.
Police contacted the 24-year-old Marshfield man who had been renting property, and he admitted that he and his ex-girlfriend had caused the damages. Charges of criminal damage to property are being requested through the Wood County DA.
Police respond to dispute between adults, report unsafe living conditions for children
Officers were dispatched at 7:09 p.m. to Schmidt Avenue. for a dispute between a 51-year-old Marshfield man and a 49-year-old Marshfield man. Upon arrival both parties were separated from each other. A 38-year-old Marshfield woman stated that neither party wanted any charges pursued and that she wanted to remove her children from the residence.
The woman had wanted to stay with her brother because her husband, the 51-year-old, was intoxicated. The woman removed the children from the residence.
Living conditions at the residence did not appear to be suitable for the small children that were living there. Photographs were taken of the safety concerns, and a copy of the report will be sent to the Wood County Human Services Department.
Monday, June 15
Brantwood woman arrested, cited for OWI
Police observed a vehicle headed southbound on Central Avenue from Veterans Parkway. A registration check showed the registration was expired and did not list to any vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on the 100 block of E. Second St. at 1:47 a.m.
The driver, a 29-year-old Brantwood woman, identified herself verbally and stated that she did not have a valid license. The woman also had a strong odor of intoxicants and bloodshot eyes.
A license check confirmed her license was revoked, operating while under the influence (OWI)-related; and she was required to operate with an ignition interlock device installed; and had three prior OWI convictions.
The woman performed standardized field sobriety tests poorly and registered 0.12 with a preliminary breath test. The woman was arrested for her fourth OWI within five years and operating after revocation, fourth offense. She was cited for the OWI and for a violation of license restriction.
The woman submitted to a legal blood draw and was transported to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail.
38-year-old taken into custody for probation violation
Police took a 38-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 300 block of S. Peach Ave. for a probation violation. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then turned over to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail.
Tuesday, June 16
Possible criminal damage to a vehicle reported
At 12:25 p.m. a man and woman from Granton reported finding an unknown white substance in the gas tank of their vehicle. The man stated that the vehicle seems to be running OK.
The vehicle had been in Marshfield for the past several days at multiple locations. The man did not have any suspects but wanted the information documented.
