Wednesday, May 27
Two men, woman warned for disorderly conduct
Police responded at 11:10 a.m. to a report of a verbal argument on the 800 block of E. Harrison St. An officer arrived and heard a female yelling the words “stop,” “be quiet,” and “stop talking.”
The officer made contact with the 25-year-old man, 22-year-old woman, and 28-year-old man that lived at the residence. After speaking to all three people, police learned that there was no physical contact, no threatening words used toward each other, and no act that created fear in any person. All three people were warned for disorderly conduct for the yelling.
Marshfield man stopped for driving with revoked license
At 3:08 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Ninth Street due to the registered owner having a revoked driving status. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer identified the operator as the owner, a 43-year-old Marshfield man whose license was revoked for an operating while under the influence (OWI)-related offence and was on probation.
Probation and Parole was contacted and initially wished for a hold to be placed on the man, so he was taken into custody. Prior to leaving the location of the traffic stop, Probation and Parole determined not to place a hold on the man, so he was released and told to contact his agent.
Police take men into custody for DOT warrant, probation hold
Police took a 26-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 300 block of S. Peach Ave. for a Department of Corrections warrant. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures and was then transported to Wood County Jail.
Officers took a 39-year-old Marshfield man into custody for a probation hold on the 600 block of E. Arnold St. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed, and then to Marathon County Jail.
Thursday, May 28
Medications reported stolen from Spruce Avenue residence
A 49-year-old Marshfield man reported someone had entered his residence on the 200 block of N. Spruce Ave. between 10 p.m. on May 27 and 8 a.m. on May 28 without his permission and took unknown amounts of numerous medications that were prescribed to him.
Colby man arrested for Clark County warrant
At 3:53 p.m. police took a 20-year-old Colby man into custody on the 900 block of N. Central Ave. for a valid Clark County Warrant following a traffic stop. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and released after posting the necessary bond.
Man taken into custody for probation hold
Probation and Parole asked Wood County Dispatch to send an officer to the 200 block of W. 14th St. to pick up a 25-year-old Marshfield man that had a probation body-only hold. The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to Wood County Jail.
Friday, May 29
Police receive two reports of retail theft
At 2:23 p.m. a manager at a store on the 1200 block of S. Central Ave. reported that a smartwatch had been stolen some time within the last two weeks. The watch had been activated. Further investigation will continue.
At 3:25 p.m. a staff member at a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. reported that he observed a 20-year-old Unity woman steal several items throughout the store on May 28. Police called the woman, and she confessed to the crimes. A request for charges will be sent to the Marathon County district attorney’s office for retail theft.
Marshfield police assist Colby-Abbotsford Police Department
The Colby police chief called the Marshfield Police Department at 5:02 p.m. to advise he was working on an investigation at Saint Joseph’s Hospital and needed assistance taking a 22-year-old Colby woman into custody for a Department of Corrections warrant. An officer arrived on the scene, took the woman into custody, and turned her over to the Colby police chief, who confirmed the warrant and transported her.
Saturday, May 30
Two men arrested, cited for OWI
While on routine patrol near the intersection of Eighth Street and Maple Avenue at 1:17 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle with no front license plate, and its high-mounted stop lamp was not operable. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, a 22-year-old Marshfield man, who identified himself with a Wisconsin driver’s license. The vehicle did have a temporary license plate.
The officer smelled the odor of intoxicants coming from the man’s person, and the man also had slurred speech and glossy and bloodshot eyes. The officer had the man perform standardized field sobriety tests (SFST) and administered a preliminary breath test (PBT), which registered 0.141.
The officer arrested and cited the man for OWI, first offense, and read him the Informing the Accused verbatim. The man consented to a legal blood draw.
While on patrol at 3:03 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for defective brake lamps near the intersection of McMillan Street and Palmetto Avenue. The officer made contact with the driver, a 52-year-old Marshfield man, who was identified through his Wisconsin driver’s license.
The man had a moderate odor of intoxicants coming from him. The man stated he was coming from work and had consumed one beer.
The officer made the man exit the vehicle and perform SFST. The man performed the tests poorly and stopped them early. The man registered a PBT reading of 0.145 and was taken into custody for OWI, third offense.
A water bottle with a brown liquid was located inside the vehicle that had a strong odor of intoxicants. The man was cited for OWI and open intoxicants.
The man agreed to a legal blood draw. After the blood draw was completed, the man was released.
Two male suspects steal soda, milk
Loss prevention at a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. contacted police after observing two unknown males leave the store without paying for two 12-packs of soda, a gallon of milk, and potentially more items that were concealed in a plastic bag. On video surveillance footage, the men were observed bypassing the checkouts and exiting the store without attempting to make payment.
A loss prevention worker followed the men out of the store, and they left in separate vehicles. The loss prevention worker obtained license plate information from one of the vehicles, but after doing a registration check, the information did not match the vehicle description. Officers are attempting to identify the suspects.
Report of drug activity results in arrest
Police responded at 8:10 p.m. to a report of possible drug activity on the 1300 block of S. Central Ave. After investigating, police took a 34-year-old man into custody for possession of marijuana. The man was also out on bond through a Marathon County case.
The man was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then transported to Wood County Jail. A request for charges will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
Following hit-and-run, man arrested for OWI, eighth offense
Police responded at 10:08 p.m. to a report of a hit-and-run traffic crash on the 1400 block of S. Maple Ave. The subject vehicle had struck two legally parked, unattended vehicles and fled the scene.
The subject vehicle was located on the 2200 block of S. Maple Ave., and police made contact with a man who admitted to driving. The man appeared heavily intoxicated; had difficulty balancing; had a strong odor of intoxicants; and had bloodshot, glossy eyes. The man admitted to drinking and refused to complete SFST.
The man had seven prior OWI convictions and was arrested for OWI, eighth offense. After the man refused a legal blood draw, a search warrant was obtained, and a blood draw was taken at the Saint Joseph’s Hospital emergency room. The man was resistive during the blood draw and had to be physically restrained.
The man refused booking and was transported to Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail. OWI and resisting an officer charges were requested through the Wood County DA’s office. The man was also cited for the hit-and-run.
Sunday, May 31
Man arrested for OWI, possession of THC
Police arrested a 23-year-old man at 1:42 a.m. following a traffic stop near the intersection of Peach avenue and Seventh Street. The man was taken into custody for OWI, first offense, and police found two pipes and suspected marijuana during a search of his vehicle.
The man was first brought to the ER for a legal blood draw and then to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures. The man was then taken back to the ER for medical reasons. Later the man was brought back to the Marshfield Police Department to finish booking procedures and then to Wood County Jail.
A request for charges will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
Marshfield man violates probation
Police made contact with a 22-year-old Marshfield man on the 100 block of W. Fifth St. at 3:14 a.m. The man was on probation, and police asked him if he had violated his probation by going into a club on the 400 block of S. Central Ave. The man denied going into the club and would not submit to a PBT.
Police contacted the club’s head of security, who stated the man had been inside the establishment. Police contacted Probation and Parole, and a hold was placed on the man for violating his probation.
The man was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, where he refused to comply with officer requests to complete booking procedures. The man was then transported to Wood County Jail on a probation hold. No further action was taken.
58-year-old warned for threatening behavior
At 4:03 p.m. a 54-year-old Marshfield woman reported a verbal argument between her and a 58-year-old Marshfield man regarding their dogs. The woman felt intimidated and threatened by the man’s demeanor and wanted him to stop as this had been a recurring problem.
Police contacted the man and warned him for his behavior.
Woman taken into custody on Wood County warrant
Police took a 21-year-old Marshfield woman into custody for a valid Wood County warrant after she was observed walking on the 400 block of S. Central Ave. The woman was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then released after the $500 bond was posted.
Man arrested for driving with suspended license
Officers stopped a 28-year-old Marshfield man for various traffic violations. During the stop, officers learned the man’s license was suspended, OWI-related.
The man was arrested, handcuffed, searched, transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking, and later released. The man was issued a citation and warnings.
Tuesday, June 2
Edgar man’s vehicle egged
An 18-year-old Edgar man reported that his vehicle had been egged between 11 p.m. on June 1 and 12 a.m. on June 2 while it was on the 500 block of W. Blodgett St. The man found eggs on the vehicle in the morning and immediately went to the car wash. In two spots paint had been chipped, and there were two scratches to the front fender.
The man found an empty egg carton near the vehicle, which he brought to the Marshfield Police Department. Police will attempt to match the eggs with local stores for a possible suspect identification.
Hotel room damaged
At 1:34 p.m. a worker at a hotel on the 500 block of N. St Joseph Ave. reported that after a 54-year-old Stevens Point woman had checked out, a manager noticed damage in the woman’s room. The manager wanted the incident to be documented in the event of the property owner deciding to press charges. The estimated value of the damage was unknown at this time.
