Spencer softball shuts out Loyal/Granton in WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal

Rockets host Marathon in regional final Friday

SPENCER — Macie Weber tossed a three-hit shutout, and the Spencer bats did just enough to knock off Loyal/Granton 3-0 in a WIAA Division 3 softball regional semifinal on Thursday at Spencer High School.
Weber struck out eight and walked just one to earn the win for the Rockets (21-3).
Spencer will host Marathon (17-5) in a regional final on Friday at 5 p.m. Marathon beat Stratford 5-0 on Thursday. The Rockets beat Marathon earlier this season at the Gilman Slamfest.
Spencer scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning.
Lindsay Vaughan had two RBIs, and Kallie Reckner drove in the other run for Spencer. Weber also went 3-for-3 at the plate.
