Pittsville snaps Spencer baseball’s 15-game win streak

Panthers rally from 7-1 deficit

PITTSVILLE — Pittsville rallied from a six-run deficit to defeat Spencer 9-8 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Pittsville High School.
Spencer had its 15-game winning streak snapped and ends the regular season with a 19-3 record. The Rockets will host Stratford or Athens in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal on June 3.
Spencer led 7-1 after 2 ½ innings before Pittsville got to work.
The Panthers (15-8) scored once in the third, five times in the fifth, and twice in the sixth to pull ahead.
Mitch Susa suffered the loss, giving up the two runs in the sixth inning.
Hunter Hildebrandt had two doubles for the Rockets.
