Auburndale baseball pulls past Newman Catholic

Auburndale finishes Marawood South season with 6-6 record

AUBURNDALE — Auburndale took advantage of eight walks to knock off Wausau Newman Catholic 11-8 in its Marawood Conference South Division baseball finale Thursday at Auburndale High School.
Newman (2-12, 1-11 Marawood South) led 7-0 after 1 ½ innings before Auburndale (7-9, 6-6 Marawood South) got its offense rolling.
The Apaches scored six times in the second inning, tied the game at 8-8 after three, and pulled ahead with a run in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
Cody Steins was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Cooper Krings scored three times for the Apaches.
Auburndale will play at Amherst in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.
