Local teams learn regional pairings for 2015 WIAA baseball playoffs

Regionals start Tuesday, June 2

The WIAA released brackets for the upcoming 2015 WIAA spring baseball playoffs for Division 1 and Division 3 on Wednesday night.

Division 2 and Division 4 brackets will be made available on Thursday.

Locally, Marshfield earned a No. 3 seed in the Division 1 Sectional 1 bracket and received a first-round bye. The Tigers (15-7) will host the winner of No. 11 New Richmond (11-10) and No. 6 Chippewa Falls (12-7) in a regional final on Thursday, June 4, at Jack Hackman Field at 5 p.m.

In Division 3 Spencer, Stratford, and Auburndale are all in the Sectional 2 bracket.

Stratford (8-8) is the No. 6 seed and will play at No. 3 Athens (13-3) in a regional quarterfinal at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 2. The winner moves on to a regional final at Spencer (19-2) on Wednesday, June 3. The Rockets received the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye.

In a different regional, Auburndale (6-9) is the No. 5 seed and will play at No. 4 Amherst (5-13) in a regional quarterfinal on June 2. The winner will play at Stevens Point Pacelli (19-6) in a regional semifinal on June 3.

In Division 4, Marshfield Columbus Catholic (9-10) is the No. 3 seed in Sectional 2 and will host Northland Lutheran/Wisconsin Lutheran in a regional quarterfinal at 4:30 p.m. June 2 at Jack Hackman Field.

Regional finals are Friday, June 5, with both sectional games played on Tuesday, June 9. The 2015 WIAA State Spring Baseball Tournament will be held at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, near Appleton, on June 16-18.
