WAUSAU — Marshfield had nine individuals qualify in 13 events and four relays that will also move on to the sectionals after competition at the WIAA Division 1 track and field regional on Wednesday at Wausau West High School.

The top four finishers move on to the Division 1 sectional at Goerke Field in Stevens Point on Friday.

Martha Kupfer won the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 7 inches, and Ashley Holubets took first in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 47.33 seconds for the Marshfield girls’ two regional titles. Kupfer also qualified in the long jump, taking third with a jump of 17-5 ¾.

Winning the regional for the Marshfield boys was Tyler Peterson, who took first in the discus with a throw of 149-9. Peterson, who also was a favorite to move on to sectionals in the shot put, did not get out of preliminaries in the event.

Both Marshfield teams finished fourth in the team standings. Stevens Point won both regional team titles.

Other individuals qualifying for the Marshfield girls were Alexa Aumann, who was second in the 400 (1:02.20); Stephanie Rhodes (second in the high jump, 5-0); Amy Martorano (third in the discus, 108-5); and Olivia Tierney (third in the 100, 13.15).

The 800 relay team of Holubets, Courtney Brown, Emma Boson, and Kupfer was third in 1:48.86; the 1,600 relay team of Holubets, Aumann, Dani Bender, and Kupfer was third in 4:09.05; and the 800 team of Maddie Nikolai, Mariah Goeppinger, Boson, and Tierney was fourth in 52.14 to also move on to sectionals.

Senior Will Spindler will move on in three events for the Marshfield boys. He took second in the triple jump (42-3), third in the 300 hurdles (41.25), and fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.93).

Calden Wojt was second in the 400 (51.30); third in the 200 (23.01); and will join Spindler, Deven Klement, and Chris Pahl on the 1,600 relay team at sectionals after they finished third in 3:33.59.

The top three in each event at the sectional will qualify for the 2015 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on June 5-6.
