By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

SPENCER — Lindsey Vaughan went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Spencer softball team to an 8-2 win over Colby on Thursday at Spencer High School.

With the win the Rockets complete a perfect season in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division, finishing at 14-0 while winning their third conference title in the past six seasons.

“An undefeated conference title is something special because it has not been done here in this sport,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “I am proud of the work ethic and attitude of our girls.”

Spencer (20-3 overall) scored six runs in the third inning to pull away.

Macie Weber struck out seven and did not allow a hit in four innings to earn the win for Spencer.

Brooke Kettleborough and Courtney Buss also added a pair of hits each for the Rockets.

Spencer completes its regular-season schedule Friday at Chippewa Falls McDonell.
