Spencer girls, Columbus Catholic boys win titles at 2015 Cloverbelt East Track Meet

Rachel Zastrow wins three events for Spencer girls

GILMAN — The Spencer girls and Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys won team titles at the 2015 Cloverbelt Conference East Division Track & Field Meet on Tuesday at Gilman High School.

The Spencer girls won nine events to cruise to the championship with 189 points, 41.5 more than second-place Neillsville. Columbus Catholic was third with 102.5.

The Columbus Catholic boys had only two wins but used its depth to rack up 140 points, five more than Neillsville/Granton. Spencer was fifth with 76.

Rachel Zastrow won three events, and Nadia King was first in two for the Spencer girls.

Zastrow won the 100-meter hurdles (17.28 seconds), 300 hurdles (51.17), and the pole vault (9-6), and King was first in the 1,600 (5:57.38) and the 400 (1:04.80) for the Rockets.

Also winning for Spencer were Sam Fuehrer in the 800 (2:38.36), Jessica Burt in the shot put (31-8), and the 800 (1:56.15) and 1,600 (4:26.40) relay teams.

Columbus Catholic’s Alexandra Hutchison won the 100 and 200 in 12.74 and 26.00 seconds, respectively. Columbus also won the 400 (54.07) and 3,200 (11:00.53) relays. Spencer was second in both events.

On the boys side, Columbus Catholic got victories from the 400 relay team (47.83) and Elijah Welsh in the shot put (41-½).

Spencer won one event and had three second-place finishes.

Noah Zastrow won the pole vault (13-0) and was second in the 110 hurdles (17.12), Jacob Miller took second in the pole vault (10-0) behind Zastrow, and the Rockets’ 800 relay team also finished second (1:39.34).

Spencer and Columbus Catholic will each take part in the WIAA Division 3 regional at Marathon on May 26.
