MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield baseball team won its third-straight game, blasting Merrill 10-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Thursday at Hackman Field.

The Tigers have climbed back to the .500 mark in the Valley, improving to 10-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference. Merrill is now 6-11 and 2-6 in the WVC.

Marshfield got things started when Cameron Swanson knocked in a pair of runs in the second inning with a single. Swanson then stole second and came around to score on a Merrill error.

Caleb Alexander led off the third with a single, stole second and third, and scored on an RBI groundout by Sam Klein to put the Tigers up 4-0.

Marshfield finished off the scoring with a six-run fourth inning.

Matt Meyer had an RBI single, Trevor Schwecke knocked in two runs with a hit, Jack Donahue and Sam Klein had sacrifice flies to score two more, and Jeremy Brost finished things off with an RBI single.

Donahue tossed the five-inning complete-game shutout for the Tigers, allowing just four hits.

Marshfield will host its annual tournament Friday and Saturday at Hackman Field and Reeths Field. The Tigers will play Menomonie at 5 p.m. Friday and will host Holmen at 10:30 a.m. and Antigo at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Antigo will play Menomonie at 10:30 a.m., and Holmen will take on Menomonie at 1 p.m. at Reeths Field.
