MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department (MFRD) responded to a structure fire on the 600 block of N. Chestnut Ave. at 3:58 a.m. this morning. While en route to the scene, MFRD was notified that the structure on fire was a garage and that it was “fully involved” with the fire according to a press release from the department. Upon arrival firefighters found the garage fully involved with the fire and two vehicles inside the garage burning.

MFRD was able to get the blaze under control within 20 minutes of arrival according to the release. The garage and the vehicles and contents inside are a total loss. The release states that the residences on both sides of the garage fire had damage to the siding of the home and garage.

The release estimates the total damage caused by the fire to be $25,000 for the structure and $35,000 for contents impacted by the fire.

The release reports one minor injury to a firefighter, who was treated on the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation according to the release.
