Marshfield girls win team title, boys second at Tomah Track Invite

Will Spindler wins three individual events for Tigers

TOMAH — The Marshfield girls won five events to take the team title, and the Tigers boys finished second at the 2015 Tomah Justinger Memorial Invitational on Tuesday at Tomah High School.

The Marshfield girls racked up 143.5 points finishing ahead of Wisconsin Rapids (110.75) and Nekoosa (102). Marshfield split off a second girls team — Marshfield Orange — that finished with 19.5 points in seventh place out of 10 teams.

Winners for the Marshfield girls included Ashley Holubets in the 200 meters (28.41 seconds); Martha Kupfer won the 800 (2:32.04); Sophia Schrodi in the 1,600 (6:03.79); the 400 relay team of Angelina Dunomes, Mariah Goeppinger, Emma Boson, and Olivia Tierney (53.56); and the 800 relay team of Holubets, Dunomes, Boson, and Kupfer (1:52.28).

The Marshfield boys won seven events, three by senior Will Spindler, to finish second with 159 points. Wisconsin Rapids won with 174 points.

Spindler won the 110 hurdles (16.49), the 300 hurdles (42.64), and the triple jump (39 feet, 9 inches).

Also winning for Marshfield were Calden Wojt in the 400 (52.03), Chris Pahl in the long jump (19-2), Tyler Peterson in the shot put (48-6 ¼), and the 1,600 relay team of Wojt, Deven Klement, Pahl, and Spindler (3:46.21).

The Marshfield teams will compete at the Wisconsin Dells Invitational on Friday.
