MERRILL — The Marshfield baseball team rallied from a two-run deficit with a huge seventh inning and held off Merrill 12-8 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Tuesday at the Merrill Area Rec Center.

Merrill led 5-3 heading into the seventh before the Tigers scored nine runs to take a commanding lead.

Trevor Schwecke had an RBI single, and Caleb Alexander followed with another RBI single to tie the game at 5-5.

Sam Klein knocked in a pair with a single, and Braden Bohman ripped a bases-loaded double to clear the bases and put Marshfield up 10-5.

The Tigers tacked on two more runs to go up by seven before Merrill scored three times in the bottom of the inning.

Mason Tysver earned the win with 1 2/3 innings of relief.

Marshfield (9-7 overall, 3-4 Wisconsin Valley Conference) will host Merrill at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Field. The game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
